The Secret Of Red Wine An Elixir Of Man

Nowadays scientists are beginning to state that wine can really better our health and increase longevity. Thinking that this hypothesis is true, the question is, which wines generate the most bang for the dollar?

Researchers have found out that red wines are best for our health, because they have a high concentration of flavonoids. This components are most well known for their antioxidant qualities. Flavonoids help the body resist such maladies as viruses, carcinogens and allergens.

Red wines contain antioxidants as well, which help the body resist cancer and cardiovascular disease. The highest concentrations of antioxidants and flavonoids contain Petit Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Pinot Noir. Other red wines such as Merlots and red zinfandels contain fewer flavonoids, but a lot more than most white wines.

So, the best advice for drinking wine for our health is to stick with the dryer red wines. Just because wine contains components that are central to good health doesn’t give us a free rein to get plastered every night. Don’t overdo it. However adding a glass of wine to your daily dieting can definitely make a difference to our health.

could red wine be an elixir for manDrinking daily one or two four-ounce glasses of red wine can be beneficial to men, while women should limit their consumption to one four ounce drinking per day. That’s the recommendation of most health officials.

Professor Roger Corder, a well known cardiovascular expert, states in his new book, “The Wine Diet,” that he is convinced most of us should include a glass of red wine in our daily lifestyle. He has spent some years analyzing the evidence of the benefits from red wine to our health.

He wondered why the French have a lower rate of heart disease despite the fact that their diet was extremely rich in fats. He eventually labeled what he discovered the “French Paradox.” Especially he centered his research on the southwest region of France, where life expectancy seemed to be highest.

Professor Corder found out that the portion of France brings out very tannic local wines, which contain the highest content of procyanidin, an antioxidant, of any wines, around the world. This was the reason he’s going on to further research on the amazing medical benefits of red wine.

Although wine may not be ultimate elixir or fountain of youth of men, it certainly behooves us to think about adding a glass of wine or two to our daily diet and bring up a “toast” to our kept going healthiness.

The well known 16th-century Swiss physician, Paracelsus, wrote, “Wine is a food, a medicine and a poison - it’s just a question of dose.” You should keep in mind as with almost any drink or food, wine consumed in large doses can be a damage to our health.
